We are currently being supported by NRF (the NFS equivalent of Korea), the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Samsung Electronics, among others.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”More” style=”flat” color=”danger” size=”sm” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fnext.unist.ac.kr||”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”DICL” google_fonts=”font_family:Montserrat%3Aregular%2C700|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_column_text]We research technologies for managing and analyzing truly large scale datasets. When processing large volumes of data, parallel and distributed computations, efficient storage systems, and database technologies are essential. We push high performance data processing technologies to the limit by providing innovative and practical research in the intersection of three major computer science areas – distributed and parallel computing, database systems, and storage systems.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”More” style=”flat” color=”danger” size=”sm” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fdicl.unist.ac.kr%2F||target:%20_blank”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”SSL” google_fonts=”font_family:Montserrat%3Aregular%2C700|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_column_text]The main focus of System Software Laboratory is to design, develop, and evaluate system software technologies that can support the diversity of emerging applications, including high performance scientific applications and data-intensive applications, and new computer architectures. Our laboratory is particularly interested in innovative technologies for the efficient and reliable management of large scale systems based on virtualization.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”More” style=”flat” color=”danger” size=”sm” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fychoi.unist.ac.kr%2Fssl||target:%20_blank”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”CASL” google_fonts=”font_family:Montserrat%3Aregular%2C700|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_column_text]We investigate innovative system software and architectural techniques that significantly improve the performance, efficiency, security, and reliability of computer systems. We take a vertically integrated research approach to maximize the synergistic effects across the entire computer system hierarchy including computer architecture, system software, runtimes, and applications.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”More” style=”flat” color=”danger” size=”sm” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fcasl.unist.ac.kr%2F||target:%20_blank”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”BDSL” google_fonts=”font_family:Montserrat%3Aregular%2C700|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_column_text]In Big Data Systems & Applications Lab at UNIST, we investigate programmability, scalability, fault tolerance, manageability, and performance of big data systems (distributed/parallel systems). Also we are interested in applications of big data systems, and study big data mining and analytics in areas ranging from bioinformatics, medical informatics, to social science and economics. Besides these areas, we collaborate with Stanford MobiSocial Group to study innovative platform for Internet of Things. See the Research Page for the (partial) list of research projects.
